Near: Alex and his crew have put the
first layer of render on the outside of
the Center. They troweled on plaster
and raked it with a comb-like tool to
leave ridges for the second layer
to grab.
Far: Jacquie, Erica and Leif are nearly
done with the second layer on the
first of the four sides.
Near: The second side looms.
Far: Two close-ups of different areas of
the first finished wall. I might note that
the imperfections add to, rather than
detract from, the effect of a plaster
exterior.
Near: Briggs rocks the mixer
Near: Bob Newland has just finished a
day of hauling mud to four beautiful
young women (he says he thinks
there might have been guys there,
too).. "Rough duty," he says,
"There's probably a medal for this
kind of service."
Far: Lief and Jacquie slap plaster.
Near: Menno smiles at the recent
US Supreme Court decision re-
garding pistol possession in D.C.
June 25: (132 years ago, G.A.
Custer led 280 men to his and
their deaths while attempting to
bring democracy, justice, equality
and freedom to people who
thought they were doing okay as
it was).
Far two pix: The final two walls
Near: Jeremy, Lief and Menno
slap lime on the wall.
Far: Jacquie reloads.
Near: Reinforcements arise. We
have to get to the War Pony races.
Near: Erica smoothes some ridges.
Far: Swarmed, the wall has no chance.
Far: Menno takes the first shots at the
final wall.
Near: The final scaffold station.
Near: Theo is nonchalant about the
competion at the War Pony Races.
Far: Jeremy receives a star quilt
from Alex and Debra for his efforts
to help bring justice to all of us.
